Scotland to face hosts Germany in opening match

The draw for the UEFA EURO 2024 final tournament took place on Saturday 2 December, setting the stage for an exciting summer of football in Germany.

The tournament will kick off in Munich on Friday 14 June, with the final to be played in Berlin on Sunday 14 July. The group stage will run until 26 June, with the knockout rounds beginning on 29 June.

Scotland have been drawn in Group B alongside hosts Germany, England, and the Czech Republic. They will open their campaign against Germany in Munich on 15 June.

Other notable matchups in the group stage include Spain vs Italy in Group A, France vs Netherlands in Group D, and Portugal vs Serbia in Group G.

The draw was conducted by UEFA General Secretary Theodore Theodoridis and UEFA Deputy General Secretary Giorgio Marchetti, with assistance from former England international Karen Carney and former Germany international Thomas Hitzlsperger.

The tournament is expected to be one of the most competitive in recent memory, with all of the top European nations in contention for the title.

Scotland will be hoping to make a strong impression in their first major tournament since 1998, and they will be buoyed by the fact that they will have the support of a large traveling contingent in Germany.
